While I worked at QC Industries, I helped develop a more understandable and appealing design for the company’s product manuals. I wrote, laid out, and illustrated these manuals, over several years. As well as created exploded views and CAD drawings, for them. There were also, several different products that were sold overseas to speakers of nearly 10 different languages, which prompted me working with translators to provide a manual for those customers.
Each piece of technical documentation came with its own challenges, in that each product was different. This meant that nearly 150 illustrations needed to be created for each of the product lines, and each “step” had to be accompanied by a block of text. This clear step by step layout cut customer service related calls down by a large percentage, and provided QC Industries customers with a better user experience.
